view st residence…under construction
The design of this family home was a result of a brief that not only had emphasis on functional requirements and sustainability but also aimed to maximise the potential of receiving the fantastic views that can be seen from the site as well as totally immersing the building into the site – to express and draw from the landforms and natural surrounds. Furthermore, design decisions were made with the objective of mitigating or even avoid entirely, any form of invasive excavation and clearing of significant native bushland.
The design intent was to create architecture that contributes to this landscape – perched on the edge of an elevated plateau, the dwelling appears to have ‘grown’ from the red earth on which it anchors and where it ‘belongs’.
Other than the challenging physical terrain is the need to comply with building on a bush fire zoned [BAL-FZ] site.
