Our team worked very closely with the clients to achieve their very interesting brief for their green home. The brief included a dedicated ‘wash down’ space for his use after surfing, a large artist’s studio on the first floor which overlooks the courtyard, a library connected to the studio, a dedicated kayak storage space within the large double garage were amongst other items.

There were unusual construction techniques – high thermal performance sandwich panels, a steel skeletal frame, one large spinal rammed earth wall for thermal mass, precast concrete slabs, and PVC double glazed windows from Germany. Photovoltaic cells to produce its own energy, grey-water recycling and rainwater distribution were also introduced into the design.
