Sushimaster + Dancin’ Wok Concept Store

Chinese and Japanese restaurant design in Perth Architects

In: Projects, Retail + Interiors

The concept of ‘food theatre’ was the driving force behind the design – a wok stage and a sushi making stage. These stages are where the chef and sushi master performs while patrons watch their dishes being cooked and prepared.

Our aim for the aesthetics of the project was to create an interior that is a contemporary interpretation of traditional Chinese and Japanese architecture and interior. Features such as the ‘menu lanterns’ were inspired from the paper lanterns traditional Chinese and Japanese hawker’s used to light up their food carts and street-side vendors at night. The ‘menu lanterns’ are interactive menu boxes that patrons rotate to view the menu before they ordered.
