Radstock St Residence III

looking out into the backyard - residential architects perth

In: Projects, Residential

This residential project was a memorable one which started off with the clients having the intention for a completely environmental sustainable designed green home for their family. The design process was a lengthy journey where the clients changed directions a number of occasions hence the unusual numbers of different schemes resulted.

The house consists of 3 levels. Ground level consists of bedrooms and a self-contained wing with a large bedroom, living space and ensuite. The top level consists of the master suite and open plan living areas. It was an important part of the brief that this top level be exposed to the ocean views which also, unfortunately, faces the harsh Western sun. Automated sun-shading devices and the selection of materials were used to defend against the heat gains from the West. The structure of the building was also engineered to sustain cyclonic weather.
