The property had views of the Indian Ocean at the front of the site and direct access to a canal at the rear of the site. The brief included a jetty out the back for their boat and a roof terrace to watch whale sharks swimming by. Due to the location of the site, the design had to accommodate for transportation and ease of construction. The building was choreographed to fit and be bolted together on-site. The concrete volumes were divided into several segments and locked together with steel members as an external frame. Wet trades were minimized and even painting was limited with bare materials expressed proudly following our ‘wabi sabi’ principle which the clients loved.
