Biccari Dr Residence
The brief for the permanent home for a young couple was quite open in terms of aesthetics and planning. Their requirements other than the norm were that the house will need to specifically cater for their frequent entertainment and social functions, a space within the garage for a motorcycle as well as 2 cars and a small dual use room attached to the master bedroom that will function as a study to be converted to a nursery at a later stage. An adaptive and flexible home was the result, which will enable their family grow over the years.
The corner block with great orientation worked to our advantage in terms of passive solar design whilst enabling views open to the parkland opposite. Energy efficiency was achieved through materiality and double glaze windows. The north facing courtyard separating the volumes allowed natural day-lighting of most of the spaces in the house.
